If you come from Zagreb by rail or motorway, you will come in a pictorial part pf Croatia where, by the green - blue river Mrežnica, lies Duga Resa - town known by its textil industry. Nature is here very different - in the same teritory you can see great woods, green meadows and rocky wilderness by river Mrežnica.
Town started developing since 1884. when the textil factory is built. Until then in city surrounding exosted just a few villages, but since 1884. little industrial town is formed and takes about 58 km2 and has 12300 inhabitants. Geographic marks of surrounding of Duga Resa are low hills. Town is situated by the river Mrežnica and hill Vinica (321m). Clime of this region is known by its strong winters and hot summers. During summer is hot, which is main reason of exploiting river Mrežnica. Winters are very cold with lots of snow. Location of town and clime effects give lots of possibilities for developing active tourism during the year. On the hills are plantages of wineyards which gives oportunity for developing touristic wine roads in close future.
Town Duga Resa exists since 19th century. It was strongest in its textil industry, but it's not anymore and in present tourism becomes main econmic branch. Local church of St. Peter whitnesses about religion and culture of Duga Resa inhabitants. Near church are archeologic ruins since Roman empire.
Church exists since 16th century and present formation gets in 1711. The rest of chapels in villages around are built in roman emoire, and archeologic proves are in yard of St. Peters church The town center is cultural sight of this industrial town. Radnilko Kasar and Inzl, town hall, hospital, kindergarden, big and small villas are example of city arhitecure from 19th century. Main economic resources in the town are tourism, agronomy and wineyards.
River Mrežnica is specific and is made by sinergy of two rivers - east and west Mrežnica. Those rivers are flowing from region Chapel. Beatutiful waterfalls and seder material on some places creatses small lakes, available for swimming and fishing. Water temperature during summer is 27 C degrees. River is 62 km long and it's available for active tourism: swimming, fishing, canuing, rafting, bike roads by the river, sand volleyball, football, treking on the river banks. Staying in our region of Duga Resa containes active hollidays for tourist vacations, so we invite you to come and enjoy in river Mrežnica during summer and valleys and hills with beautiful nature. River will refresh you during summer heats, and peaceful atmosphere will relax your soul. In active part we put accent on using our bike road By bike on the Mrežnica river banks. It is 50 km long and containes riding on normal roads, wood, dusty roads and field roads.
In cooperation with hunting clubs and fishing clubs it is possible to organize hinting and fishing. Gatronomy of this region is very rich. In all hotels and restaurants you can try special delicies of this region, and internacional food too. It's continued with good wines of Duga Resa hills wineyards and also home made gon of plums and pears.
